St. James Drive, Balham

With an eclectic collection of art and prints to showcase our clients asked for our help in redesigning the ground floor  of this large semi detached home near Wandsworth Common. The brief here was to give a completely fresh and new look to entrance hall, drawing room and living area taking into account daily family living while specifying materials which would add a fun but timeless element. The client wanted to introduce strong bold colours to the design concept which would incorporate their collection of art so we introduced this beautifully deep blue as a reference point for the design direction.

The flooring choices were really important for the overall layout as the rooms all flow off a central staircase, so we used a combination of grey wide plank oak from Trunk in the kitchen and living rooms and encaustic Terrazzo tiles in the entrance hall.

All the upholstery items were bespoke made in our workroom bringing in strong accents of colour and pattern in the fabrics used.

We carefully selected the furniture, lamps and accessories to style out the living spaces to work with the colour scheme and to reflect the client’s aesthetic and personality.
